When Barbara A. Doyle, founding President and CEO of Carleton-Willard Village, first opened our doors in 1982, she was on the forefront of a new concept for retirement living – continuing care. Since then, Carleton-Willard Village has been designing innovators both inside and out. We host convenient indoor features such as a main street, salon, and bank, like you would find in a village center. The outdoors is filled with activity spaces, walking paths, and beautiful gardens.
We have continued to be a leader in continuing care by establishing the first licensed outpatient clinic in a Massachusetts retirement community which offers physician, nursing, psychosocial and therapy services. We have also developed an award-winning state-of-the-art aquatic, fitness center and spa.
We are affiliated with Boston University’s renowned Alzheimer’s Disease Center and the highly regarded Care Dimensions (formally the Hospice of the North Shore). We have an interdisciplinary team of caregivers who provide a person-centered, holistic approach to palliative care through our innovative program called Living Fully, Dying Well. In addition, Carleton-Willard At Home was created to support individuals who wish to remain in the home and community they love, by providing assistance with practical day-to-day tasks and access to social, cultural, educational and health and wellness programs. The most recent addition to us is the Village Centre; a beautifully designed space with an abundance of natural light, a computer lab, art studio, exercise studio and relaxing spa.
The next forty years look as promising as the previous forty were at Carleton-Willard Village. We will continue to be leaders and innovators in continuing care retirement communities. Words do not do this community justice, so I invite you to learn more about us by visiting or just looking through our website or our brochures. The residents can tell you why we are so special and how proud they are to call this their home. I look forward to meeting you.
