BWhen the caring staff members of Carleton-Willard Village first opened our doors in 1982, we were at the forefront of a new concept for retirement living – continuing care. We were also a design innovator, one of the first to incorporate a Main Street, with shops and services reminiscent of a village center. We were quickly successful, and new residents gravitated to the beautiful surroundings, gracious service and stimulating activities. We were also flattered to discover how often other retirement communities imitated us.

Not willing to sit on our laurels, we have continued to be a leader in senior living. We opened the first licensed outpatient clinic in a Massachusetts retirement community. We built a state-of-the art aquatic and fitness center that has won both design and programming awards. We developed a beautiful home-like environment for Alzheimer’s care, with an attention to detail that is far superior to what you will find at other skilled nursing facilities. We have affiliated with Boston University’s renowned Alzheimer’s Disease Center and the highly respected Care Dimensions (formerly the Hospice of the North Shore). We have introduced a uniquely comprehensive end-of-life program, Living Fully, Dying Well®. And most recently, we launched a major new outreach program, Carleton-Willard At Home, which provides support services and information to enable older adults in our surrounding communities to successfully and safely remain in their own homes as they age.

We invite you to learn more about us – peruse the website, read our brochure, and come for a visit. But most importantly, talk with some of our residents and find out why the Village is such a special place to live. I look forward to welcoming you home.
